Iran’s Diplomatic Efforts Continue with Russia Visit
The trip to Russia offers an opportunity to exchange views with Russian authorities on the most recent developments, Abbas Araghchi said in remarks delivered upon reaching St. Petersburg, as reported by a state broadcaster.
As part of his itinerary, the chief diplomat is expected to meet high-ranking Russian figures, including President Vladimir Putin, during his time in Moscow.
Speaking about his Pakistan visit, Araghchi noted that the course of negotiations with the United States was assessed during the "successful" trip.
"In any case, 40 days of heroic resistance by the Iranian people should ensure that we are able to secure the rights of the Iranian people and provide for the country’s interests," he argued.
"Changes have occurred in the negotiation process, and incorrect approaches and excessive demands by the US caused the previous round of talks, despite progress, not to reach its objectives.
"Therefore, it was necessary to review the current situation with our friends in Pakistan," the minister added.
