Iran’s IRGC Holds Major Coastal Exercise as Tensions with US Rise
The semi-official Fars News Agency reported that multiple units of the IRGC Ground Force participated in the 1404 Combined Exercise, aimed at boosting “combat readiness” in light of perceived threats. The drill reportedly demonstrated modern combat technologies and the application of new tactics designed to counter potential challenges.
This ground exercise follows a major naval drill in the Strait of Hormuz last week, conducted under the supervision of Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour, the IRGC’s top commander.
Tensions have intensified in recent weeks with the deployment of US aircraft carriers and bombers to the Persian Gulf. US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington could pursue a military option if ongoing nuclear negotiations with Tehran fail.
The third round of indirect nuclear talks, mediated by Oman, is scheduled for Thursday in Geneva, where Iran is expected to present a draft plan for its nuclear program to US negotiators.
