Turkey hails Afghanistan-Pakistan truce agreement
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry commended both Islamabad and Kabul for agreeing to create joint mechanisms aimed at strengthening peace and stability.
“Türkiye will continue to support the efforts for achieving lasting peace and stability between the two brotherly countries and in the region,” the ministry said.
The ministry also extended appreciation to Qatar for hosting and facilitating the dialogue.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan and Afghanistan confirmed that they had reached an agreement on an immediate ceasefire, following rising border tensions after Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika province late Friday, which Kabul said resulted in civilian casualties. The strikes occurred while officials from both countries were engaged in talks in the Qatari capital.
